Adelaide United coach Marco Kurz says he won't be using Friday night's A-League season opener against Sydney FC to size up their opponents ahead of their FFA Cup final meeting later this month.
United and the Sky Blues will meet in Round One of the A-League on Friday night, before they face off again in Adelaide in the cup final on Wednesday 31 October.
"I think it's good to know it's completely different," Kurz said.
"We have to find the balance between both tournaments.
"The season is our homework. Our aim is to reach the finals again in the (A-League) season.
"We have to do a good job and tomororw is the first game.
"Then after Newcastle (in Round Two) we focus on the first game."
United will be without Ryan Kitto and Nikola Mileusnic, along with George Blackwood who suffered an injury in midweek.
"I don't really know," Kurz said when asked about the problem.
"He played last week 90 minutes. The day after was a recovery run for 30 minutes, all was good.
"Then we had a day off and then after that he felt some tightness in his calf.
"We cannot take the risk, so that's why he's out."
