Central Coast Mariners have confirmed they are in negotiations with Olympic champion and world record holder Usain Bolt about the opportunity to trial with the A-League club.
The Gosford club put out a statement on Tuesday morning clarifying the situation in light of a report on the front page of today's Daily Telegraph.
Central Coast said they remain committed to discussions with the ‘world’s fastest man’ and his management team, regarding what role the club may play in Bolt’s burning ambition to become a professional footballer.
The Mariners added that is crucial to note that all discussions between the club and Bolt require an initial six-week-trial period and no contract is guaranteed.
Bolt has previously flirted with a career in football, appearing in celebrity games including for Manchester United, whom he supports.
Earlier this year, Bolt trained with Norwegian club Stromsgodset and in June he played in a Soccer Aid for UNICEF charity match in Manchester.
